Summer Intern Jenny McCullen

Jenny comes to the MRC from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she is majoring in Sustainable Business (just like Katie!) and minoring in Women's Studies.

Jenny has been working hard this summer coordinating recycling for the SummerFest in Indian River, MI. This is an important event for the MRC, funded by the Steve Chalker Memorial Fund, in honor of longtime MRC Board member Steve Chalker.

Here are 10 things you need to know about Jenny:

1. Jenny is a hard worker. Not only is she interning here, but she is also taking summer classes, in addition to working another job.
2. Jenny graduated from Mason High School in 2014 and is currently a Junior at Aquinas College.
3. Jenny is passionate about social and environmental justice.
4. With parents who were committed to recycling, waste diversion, and other environmental issues, interning at the Michigan Recycling Coalition has been a great fit for her.
5. In addition to her work with the MRC, she is also a barista at the Moose Cafe at Aquinas College. If you're ever in the area, stop by for a Moose Tracks Latte!
6. For three summers, Jenny spent much of her time doing landscaping, where she learned a lot about plants. She loves day lilies!
7. Starting a blog for the MRC was Jenny's idea!
8. Many of the social media posts you've seen on Facebook and Twitter this summer have been Jenny's work. She has doubled our social media reach!
9. Jenny started a knitting club at Aquinas college called KCC - Knitting and Crocheting Club.
10. Jenny plans to run a half marathon next year.
